During the trip, you will visit one of the oldest working Salt Mines in the World – Wieliczka’s Salt Mine, which has been producing table salt for over 700 years, starting from 13th century! Wieliczka’s Salt Mine is one of the biggest tourist attraction located near Krakow it is famous in Poland as well over world! Your English speaking guide will take you 140 meters underground for a 2.5 hour-long trip through over 2.5 kilometre-long Tourist Route full of chambers with amazing carvings and statues, all made of salt, as well as a large collection of mining machines and equipment.
Please note that to reach the first level of the mine (64 metres underground), you have to use a wooden stairway which has 378 stairs which means the tour may be troublesome for motor-impaired tourists. After the tour, you will be taken back to the ground level with a lift. You should be back at your hotel around 1 p.m. or around 6-7 p. m. in case of the afternoon tour.

Wieliczka in which Salt Mine is located is just near Krakow – your journey will take around 30 minutes. The tour takes around 2.5 hours so it shouldn’t take long than approximately half of your day. You can visit it even if you are staying in Krakow for a day or two — Wieliczka Salt Mine should definitely be on your “to do” list during your visit in Poland. Still not sure?
